Looks like one of their precious new 739s?

cfischer Jun 6, 2014 6:37 pm

nice one :D

rylan Jun 6, 2014 6:46 pm

Yeah looks like a 739. Wonder how far back it went or if there was any damage from the jetway.

Heard from a couple pilots that this is, while not "common," happening surprisingly frequently. Someone in Delta Ops is going to have to figure out how to keep this from happening.

This is obviously an effect of upgrading fewer passengers. More huge DYKWIA egos weighing down the back of the plane. The solution is more upgrades.

What airport? This is a great video!

^ Yes, bring back more upgrades at the respective windows!

Is this caused by passengers, fuel, or luggage? I'm guessing pax? Fuel is mostly in the wings on narrow-bodies, right?

That's 739 that's the result of a plane being tail heavy and unloading the front first

Yep. There's notices all around Delta stations about not unloading the front until the back is completely empty. I noticed back when DL got the 900 that the nose was raised slightly when unloading a plane once. It was one of the first few days it was in operation. The front was being unloaded and the nose crept up and was a good 6 inches higher above the loader than where it was originally placed. Thankfully it was noticed and everyone realized what was happening so nothing really came of it.

Thank the Queen. It is called load and balance for a reason. Again, what airport?

Perhaps a few smuggled a few extra pounds on this flt? It made the plane tip up? :D:D:D

What airport, what aircraft? :D:D:D:D

The 737-900 doesn't rotate very far back due to the long fuselage yet short landing gear. It probably rotated back as far as it could go and did have a "tail strike" when it fell back in the video.

If this is a common-enough occurence, maybe a wise investment would be tail-stands that go under the tail while the aircraft is on the ground.

Goes to show that the 739 is no 752 replacement.
