Sleeper vs Flat-bed?

On a LAX-JFK flight, I am deciding between either 767-300 that offers "Flat-bed" or a 757-200 that offers a "Sleeper Seat." Which is a superior experience?

The 767, as it is a full flat bed, and each seat has direct aisle access. The 757 is just a recliner. Not a lie flat seat, not a flat bed seat. That said, I've never had much trouble sleeping in the recliner either, but still consider the 767 to be superior.

So the 757 I am seeing is not this?

if you read that ad, it states "flat-bed cabin." A sleeper seat is not a lie-flat seat, it is a recliner. If the little icon is not a lie-flat bed, but a recliner, then you will not see that pretty new interior. 767-300 is a safer bet. Just had a 12hr flight in one and is was great.

I'd be surprised to see any new 757-200 (75E) planes right now. Delta claiming a "spring" arrival means June 20th.

Nope, sorry. The B757s haven't been refurbed with those yet. There's a thread around here somewhere about it. If it was those, it would say "Flat Bed" just like the B767 does.

This is what's in BusinessElite on the B757 . . . .

Sleeper is a misnomer, but totally consistent with management's approach to honest (not) communication.

To me, the difference between lie-flat and flat beds would be that lie-flat can include tha angled flat seats that are being removed from DL's A330 and still used on AF, etc.

I have sat in both seats, and the 767-300 wins hands down. I slid right down the 757 seat when it was reclined and I was basically holding myself up with my feet. Did not like it and I did not like the A330-300 reclining seat at the time either. Had to sit up straight the whole time from LAX-NRT. When I finally got to HKG, I had been awake for almost 60 hours straight. Hope I never have to do that again.

while the 767 flat bed is the way to go for a flight where you definitely want to sleep (redeye), i don't mind the 757 cradle sleeper seat for daytime flights when you want to just be cozy and comfortable.

the new 757 BE cabin looks very nice! ^ i've always been a fan of the intimate/quiet nature of the sCO (UA) 757 lie-flat birds and the Delta cabin looks even sharper!

Think you've got the birds reversed. The A330 is (well, used to be) the angled lie flat seats where you slide down towards your feet. The 757 is the recliner. Much like a lazy boy... there's no real way to slide out of them. The trick with the A330s was to back off the full recline just a little bit and make them more like the 757 recliners.
