DL 2412 Loses a Wing Panel

Currently sitting in the ATL A17 Skyclub and just watch a 752 approach a gate under its own power with a fire truck and several other emergency vehicles following it. They are still there some 10 minutes later with several personnel on an empty catering elevator at the rear door looking at the rudder and stabilizers with flashlights. Anyone have any info?

Possibly a false fire indication.

DL2412 (MCO-ATL) did have an emergency landing in ATL today. A panel literally flew off the wing and probably hit that area.

Found this post on reddit just now; DL2412, a 757, lost a wing panel during flight from MCO-ATL. Not sure if this is the plane you saw, but the timing is close.

Looks like hydraulic fluid leaking from the actuator valve.

Just sat next to a couple on ATL-ATW who were on this flight heading into ATL. Happened to be sitting right at the window viewing the situation, showed me pics they took with their tablet. It's all legit...100 on the sphincter/pucker meter, yep.

Would they want it back if an orange farmer (in Fla.) or a peach farmer (in Ga.) finds it???

I'm not sure if this has been discussed on here or not, but isn't Delta's ..unwillingness to invest in new aircraft a thought in anyone's mind when issues like this occur?

WHAT???? Absolutely not. They bought some MD90 used and have received a few dozen B717 so far, so now you consider this a safety issue......

And where is the unwillingness??? 100 B739, 10 A321, 10 A333, 18 B788, and just issued a RFP for more widebodies.

Delta has one of if not the best aircraft maintenance programs in the industry.

What kind of plane was that? The article doesn't say. By the looks of it, it's definitely not an Airbus.

Looks like they were losing hydraulic fluid from damage associated with that panel coming off also.
