Question about not flying a return Segment..
My partner and I are due to fly SEA-LAS-SEA on DL (SkyWest). We booked A & G fares and are already in F.
Due to a change in family plans we're going to fly SEA-LAS on DL, then fly on a DL Private Jet one way from LAS-MSP. So I need to change our return from LAS-SEA to MSP-SEA. Our tickets weren't insanely expensive, they were cheap F (actually Y-UP) A and G fares. When I try to "change" the ticket on DL.com it wants a $200 per ticket change fee, (so $400 total). The one way cheap F from MSP-SEA is running $453. I'm just curious what will happen if we just don't fly the return LAS-SEA flight and instead buy a new one way MSP-SEA. Does it really matter? I'm more interested also as it relates to the DL Double MQM promo. When we bought our original ticket last fall, it qualified for the Double MQM's on the new SEA flights, for the first Double MQM promo last year. Now with the new promo for non-stop flights from and to Seattle, MSP is included, but I think the ticket has to be purchased this year, and before travel, so I feel like changing the original ticket won't help me get Double MQM's on the MSP-SEA leg. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated. jacksafar |
In general nothing happens if you skip the last segment. As for the double MQM does it have to be a RT? If so you might have a problem. Similar if there is check for completing the itn.

Well for the SEA-LAS outbound that was booked under the 2013 SEA Double MQM's promo, I just breezed through the T&C and it doesn't appear that you have to fly a RT, just a segment to or from LAS from SEA. The terms are here:
http://dmn.delta.com/ace_plrs/seattl...es/terms.shtml The 2014 promo which includes All non stops into our out of SEA is below, it doesn't seem like a one way from MSP-SEA wouldn't work out, as long as I book it before I fly and after i register for the promo (I did that on day one). http://dmn.delta.com/ace_plrs/seattledouble/terms.shtml |
you have several options, probably the best is just to buy the one way discounted F fare MSP-SEA and forego the last leg on the already purchased ticket.

If the one-way MSP-SEA flight is the same day as the LAS-SEA flight the system may detect two conflicting reservations and cancel one or both.

Question about not flying a return Segment..
They are on different dates. Shall I let DL know we aren't flying that segment, so someone else can maybe get upgraded in advance? Or just no call no show?

Probably nice to let them know you aren't flying that return segment so they can note/cancel it and use the space for someone else.

Why the reluctance to call the DM line? IF you are flying DPJ and tell them, they may cut you a deal on the return from MSP. They have done that for me. And no, I was flying on someone else's membership. They still extended a courtesy and just changed the ticket. YMMV.

Can't you just call them and cancel the last legs and get the money back minus $200 (as a credit I mean)? Either there will be leftover to apply to the new ticket or not. Am I missing something? I've cancelled the end of a trip before and IIRC they've given me the excess back as a credit in my "wallet."
