Last week, we announced updates to how you will earn miles in the 2015 SkyMiles program, as well as how redeeming miles will become easier and more flexible. Many of you asked for more specifics about the Award Travel improvements, so we wanted you to be among the first to get the details of what’s in store for redemption.

We’re excited to announce that the 2015 U.S. Award chart is now available online, more than nine months before new Award pricing goes into effect. You can find the details at delta.com/skymiles2015. As you’ll see, there are no price increases to any of our lowest Award redemption levels and of the 44 Award level pricing changes, more than 95% are decreases.

We look forward to bringing you a better SkyMiles program in 2015.

Very quick glance at int'l J redemptions... the lowest levels are roughly the same as current. My guess is that they will force the increase by drastically slashing the "Level 1" (formerly "saver") availability and force us up to Level 2 and higher . That is how they will get us to the devaluation.

I love that they have to brag about it being published so far in advance.

They certainly are not. US-EU is still a painful 125k in BE.

I'm honestly shocked at how "not bad" this is.

Their original choice to keep this hidden for 9 months is even more baffling. Nevertheless it's certainly not the doom and gloom many anticipated, now it boils down to the tiers 1-5 inventory management.

It appears to actually be a little better in some places, with the new levels making it a slight increase from one redemption award to the nest. The new levels look like a way to increase redemption amounts in a subtle way, but even those increases aren't bad.

Please, FT'ers, spare us the "it's worse because there won't be any availability" threads, because we won't know that until next year. For all we know, there will be more availability.

All in all, if redemption remains the same, coupled with points going to revenue-base, this is a big win for last minute ticket buying segments qualifiers.

Just like the introduction of the 3-tier award chart made things better at the Saver level...

there will be less savers

There will be less savers awards. it is a devaluation, just don't know how bad until the availability question is answered.

Delta is a profitable business, they know what they are doing.

No mention of any changes to the cost of partner redemptions either.

It's already a devaluation because the miles will be more difficult to earn, so I guess we can all be thankful that it's not a double devaluation.

That's a darn good idea. Turn it into points and let people get things aside from award flights with their points. Sort of like MR points. UG certs, EC, SC entries, food and beverage on board, etc.
