Not weird at all. It simply shows that this was planned so all along. First do a few rounds of increases (in short succession one after another), only so that a few months later you can roll back some of the levels to how it was after the second last increase and thus claim that many award levels are going "down." That's the Delta way. First take something away, then shortly thereafter give it back and make a big fuss how it's a "brand new best-in-class feature" or what not (or in this case, "price reduction").

The mileage requirements in the tables are of no significance until we see the availability of seats at the various levels.

Decreasing an award cost by 5000 miles is a triviality if there are risibly few seats available at the lower award cost.

What I want to know is if DL will add more low's as they have promised to (after promising not to decrease the amount of low's when they introduced 3 tier)...
