Is LGA going into meltdown this evening?

Sitting on DL 2181 right now LGA-MCO. Weather is not particularly bad, but told we need to de-ice.. Captain says that the de-icing crew is so disorganized at the moment that they insist no planes in or out until they figure out what they 'are doing. Our guy is being a true thorn in the ops side trying to get us out of here, even going to the extreme of having the door shut since we did not have power for heat.....

A red coat came and had the door re-opened and now we have a number of higher level ops personnel circling about.

No clue how long we will sit here. We are at the hour mark....

Anyone else going through this?

Sitting on the ramp after landing 20 minutes ago as we've reached gridlock on the taxiways. Captain just said another 15 minutes or more while planes ahead get de-iced, allowing the gate areas to open up.

We are at D9. No one is moving. We keep hearing another 15 minutes....

Door is at least closed now.

Our captain is in open disbelief over what is happening.

Same thing where I am. Deicing crews can't figure out what's going on. They are saying another 30 minutes for me.

Is LGA going into meltdown this evening?

Zero FAA/ATC delays nationwide at the moment (fairly amazing for a Sunday afternoon in the middle of the winter):

http://www.fly.faa.gov/ois/

Zero FAA/ATC delays at or around LGA so far all day today:

"Light Snow" last reported in the 3pm (local) official observation; no significant weather issues & no precip observed for the past 2+ hours:

FWIW I know somebody who often works the de-ice desk at ATL, coordinating sending planes to be de-iced. He said in an ideal world they try not to push anybody from the gate until they know they can take them on the de-ice pad...for this very reason to avoid clogging the ramps & taxiways. Though it can have a downward spiral impact on in-bound aircraft too. He said it's not hard to get in a mess if things start falling too far out of synch. But I've been in very long taxiway wait situations getting out of LGA on a perfectly normal, but busy, day.

Hope things improve for everyone!

Doesn't it note 'awaiting takeoff' as soon as the door closes?

All told, was about 45 min on the ramp after landing, then pulled off outside gate D3 and got shuttle bussed over to the terminal.

Ironic... wasn't LaGuardia famous for getting NYC straightened out and running right?

More to the point... LGA is the only NYC airport showing excessive delays tonight.

So, what happened?

If there is a deicer shortage, bring down the Gorden's from the Sky Club.

No clue what went wrong, but it is very telling when the Captain will not defend the actions of the Ops crew.
