Same Day Confirmed - Basic Question

Hi guys,

Sorry in advance if this question has been asked, I searched the term "SDS" and "SDC", non of the first links looked related to the topic. I didn't see a newbie thread such as in other forums, so that's why I created a new topic.

Here's my question: I'm booked this weekend on a LGA-ATL-LAX trip booked in "P" and "C". I want to do a SDC on to an earlier flight, the first segment has P class like mine. But the second flight is in P.
Is it possible to get onto that flight using the SDC and paying $50 dollars or do I have to find a flight with C from ATL to LAX?

Thanks in advance and apologies if this has been asked before.

P is sold as First Class. The order is FPAG in descending priority. C is sold as a Business Class fare. The order for Business is JCDIZ, again in descending priority.

C should map to some First Class fare as defined in the fare rules. Since they were sold together as one itinerary and are both the second-highest for their respective classes, I would guess your C fare would map to P. If that is the case, you should be able to SDC to a flight with P availability. I've never done this, so I don't know how knowledgeable agents are on these things.

Better information is probably buried somewhere in the thread that was linked above.
