Kudos to Delta and the pilot for this. Really great story.

"And, I see a cop car pull up and I’m like, ‘this is going to be good, what's going on here?’ Then I see a cop get out and a couple guys helping him with about 30 pizzas out of the back seat and I'm like, ‘oh alright we got some pizza… we're going to have a little pizza party on the plane,’" said Wood.

How long before someone complsins, stating that DL should have offered something more healthy. Or maybe s lactose intolerance to cheese issue. .... Or as omeone on a gluten free diet...
Agree with ^ to DL, but I know this crowd

I'm sure it costs DL a LOT less for a pile of pizzas than getting slapped with a 3hr rule violation. Still a very nice gesture and help by them and the cops.

I recall an incident from some years ago where a NW flight was delayed owing to quite tardy catering. The pilot went into the concourse, purchased McDonald's 1/4 pounders (along with a few fish sandwiches for the non-meat eaters) for the passengers in Y and KFC for the first class passengers. Did it out of his own pocket. They then left sans catering (I assume that they had beverages on board from a prior servicing).

Good for Delta indeed. Though as a born and raised New Yorker, I shudder to think of the quality of that so called "pizza" they found in Tennessee!
