JFK Sky club gets "B" rating from NYC for restaurant

I was alarmed to see a "B" rating displayed at the front desk for the restaurant in the JFK sky club (terminal 4). Honestly, for a new restaurant in a new facility there's no excuse for this, and it must be quite embarassing for Delta.

If you are unfamiliar with the ratings, all New York state restaurants are inspected and given an "A, B or C" rating. A "B" rating means numerous food safety violations and its definitely cause for concern.

Would you eat there? Have you eaten there? Were you aware of this rating?

All the more reason to go somewhere else for a $14 turkey sandwich or a $16 California roll.

I noticed that last time I went there.

I think people freak out too much about a 'B' vs 'A'. I eat at 'B' restaurants quite often. Indeed, when there was a Hep A incident last year, it was at a restaurant that at the time had an 'A' rating.

I'm still probably not eating at the Sky Club, but that's because the food options aren't really exciting (free or paid).

I am surprised to see Delta's flagship Sky Club get a B rating. I would expect higher standards from Delta and/or its contractor.

In reality, though, B ratings are quite common in NYC (even for decent restaurants). C is where you should be concerned enough to keep your distance.

IMHO just go to the Shack Shack in T4, have an incredible burger and then have a drink in the Sky Club. @:-)

Interestingly, it's been a B for a few months at least, although the times I've seen it, it's posted by the door downstairs.

I don't care because I won't eat there anyway, but it does give me a chuckle everytime I see it.

That's what I've done. T4 has good food options including the Shake Shack and a Palm restaurant, and I'd rather eat at one of those and then have a drink or coffee out on the Sky Deck at the SC.

There are numerous violations that could lead to a "B" rating from the NYC health department. Some are highly trivial and are likely to be unfixable given the nature of the restaurant or food preparation area. Given the kind of violations highlighted as critical you will find that it occurs more often than not in NYC restaurants.

You can't be regraded within 6 months of an inspection and you can (unofficially) get a warning about health inspections to insure everyone is prepared.
