Credit to AS. Much smarter, and usually better redemptions, too.

The most amazing thing, is that you are waiting until your kid is 12 years old; to get a frequent flyer # to credit SkyTeam flights.

Though, perhaps, this is said child's first trip on a SkyTeam airline.

yes, this is their (kids) first Skyteam flight

AS we usually credit to AA

now if I open an AS account, I can credit DL to them.

We are on A fares to HNL courtesy of Thursdays mishap by DL IT

would we be better off crediting to AS?

Alaska has a wide range of partners. A very good FFP for many people

You can sign a PDF via Adobe Reader and avoid the print/scan nonsense.

Delta Skymiles never expire as long as the flyer is alive. Might be a consideration for a kid who might not have account activity every 18 months.

Yes, until the next DL enhancement.

Since the kids do fly AS already, it would seem to be an easy account to keep active. I have multiple DL family accounts with not enough miles to ticket needed awards, since they don't allow one way ticketing for 1/2 RT price.

Call a Delta agent and have them do it over the phone. I was able to have one created for my 4y/o niece in a matter of 1 minute by the rez agent.

If you are having trouble with PDF (you can download the reader for free) or with how to scan or email it back, just ask and I'm sure someone here will be able to answer your questions.

It's going to be up to you, however, to wait the 2 (not 30) business days for them to process the application.

1000 points

While you are having fun might as well go for 1000 points on a SW AIR one while you are busy:

I am going with AS, mostly because of the ability to do OW awards. They most likely won't fly enough DL to get many more miles. Never say never but AS (whom we usually credit to AA) will be a good choice and we can always credit to AS as well if we need to round up for an award

Thanks guys

I do find the process though for children under 12 a bit baffling. They never did this on UA, AA or HA for him. I realize (now that you guys have enlightened me ^) that there are other ways but still, going by what is on the Skymiles join link, this was the directions that they gave me.

uhmmm never mind..
from AS

I don't get it, I signed up both of my kids on delta.com before they were 1 years old. Why couldn't you do that?

I'd guess that there are new laws requiring special handling of electronic communications for kids 12 and under.

Add one year to their age, and see if it works.
