Delta.com Clarifying Question
 

I just crossed 77K MQM (only 39 MQSs) this year so am retaining Platinum status for next year.

One thing I noticed when I log into the Delta site, is a sentence above the mileage graph that says "Complete one flight (MQMs or MQSs) to reach Diamond Medallion status." (I replaced the airplane symbol with the word flight.)

Is this just a generic statement that every flight gets you closer? I thought it was odd that it said one flight, though. I don't see how I am a flight away, but wanted to make sure I wasn't missing anything.

You are not alone in the confusion. The "plane" icon doesn't mean flight at all. Not really sure why it's there. The intent was to imply that you need to either complete either the MQS or MQM requirement to get to your next level of XX medallion status.

The 'plane' icon in the tracker denotes flight related activities such as MQMs or MQSs with progress of each highlighted within the respective tracker lines inside the graphic. The 'dollar sign' tracker immediately below this section tracks MQDs and/or Amex related spend respectively.

Starting January 1, 2014 you will need to earn both flight related activities (MQMs or MQSs) plus dollar related activities (MQDs or Amex spend) to qualify for Medallion status.

Hopefully this further clarifies things.

I'll add my voice to this: I also think it's very confusing. After seeing many here mention it, I decided to go check it a few minutes ago, and I think it's a very odd way of displaying MQM's/next medallion tier. I think the previous way, just showing how many miles or segments remained, was perfectly fine. Part of what makes it confusing is that it is not immediately clear what the airplane icon means, as many have assumed it means a flight. The status tracker has two bars overlapped by the same airplane icon, so after some extrapolation, you can eventually figure it out. But the wording especially is what makes it so awkward. It reminds me of an RPG video game: "complete "X" or "Y" task to continue on your quest!"

That thing says "complete one <flight> for Diamond Medallion".
I'm 39k MQM away, not likely. It should have said "complete at least two <flights>…"

No it doesn't. Please read the explanations in DLCorpGuy's post from over 5 hours previous.

I agree with everyone else - when I see <airplane symbol>, I think "flight", so when I see the string "one <airplane symbol>", I immediately think "one flight". I don't think "complete qualifying for the next medallion status level by getting x more MQMs or MQDs." Whoever has been designing delta.com really needs to go away and they need to bring back something akin to the old (circa 2004 delta.com) which worked reasonably well, and presented information quickly and clearly.

Looks like they came up with a fix for this. I agree it was confusing and the CorpGuy explanation was just that. An explanation of a poorly designed graphic.
