"Basic Info" vs "Secure Flight Passenger Data"

Today I received a Known Traveler ID (with which I hope to get TSA PreCheck) but I am concerned about a discrepancy between two SkyMiles profile fields that appear to be asking for the same information.

My Known Traveler ID and "Secure Flight Passenger Data" both contain my first+middle+last name but my "Basic Info" is only my first+last name. Would this be a problem with respect to getting PreCheck?

FWIW, I called Delta twice with a request to add a middle name but both times was told I had to fax in documentation to make any name changes. United, American, and US Airways all allow middle name changes online.

Call the customer service number (1-888-750-3284). They can handle problems with the difference in the two names.

The names must match your PASSID on your Global Entry or NEXUS card exactly.

Mine don't match. It hasn't stopped me from getting Precheck. My Precheck name matches my ID, and that's it.

Your Secure Flight Passenger Data needs to exactly match your information as stored in GOES for your Known Traveler ID. Due to limitations in the name field(s) for the traditional name fields associated with airline reservations, an exact match with those fields is almost impossible across much of the US population - thus they don't try.
