A different brilliant FT'er made a similar statement on December 14th 2013! There has been subsequent waffling though.
Your guess: The date that is is announced that DL and AS will no longer partner.
The partnership itself may take a few months longer to wind down.
My guess: May 1, 2014

Just after I find a unicorn (a Skymiles Saver award to Hawaii on the dates I want) and book it this crap happens.
[It's a non-stop on Alaskan.]
Upside is that I won't lose my Priority Security Line (thank goodness for TSA Pre-Check). I need them to hold on until August. I don't want to lose my seats.

What date will AS and DL announce that their partnership will end?
My guess The announcement will be made in Sept, 2014.
Date of termination: Dec. 31, 2014 at 11:59 PM.
Just a guess, unless AS changes their FF program to match DL's (which I doubt).
Pick a date. Time will tell. And I am 99% sure I am wrong, but you never know.

Magically, when I searched Tilden CNBC Interview (I may not even have capitalized!), I found this:
http://video.cnbc.com/gallery/?video=3000260521
"strengthening our hub in Seattle"
"playing to our strengths"
I would not mind seeing UA recruit this guy if they ever happen to have an opening at CEO...

The drumbeat is getting louder...
How much longer can this continue?
Who will blink first?
Stay tuned!

Alaska Double Mileage Plan Miles Offer
Alaska is offering double redeemable (not elite qualifying) Mileage Plan miles on select routes out of Seattle for travel between June 1 and December 31, 2014.
The qualifying routes are as follows:
Anchorage (ANC)
San Diego (SAN)
Las Vegas (LAS)
San Francisco (SFO)
Los Angeles (LAX)
San Jose (SJC)
Oakland (OAK)
Vancouver, B.C. (YVR)
Alaska Mileage Plan Devalues Delta Award Chart
"...Alaska’s award costs vary for travel on each partner, so this doesn’t impact redemption rates on any airline other than Delta.
So how bad are the changes? Well, what Alaska is doing here is basically aligning their redemption costs for travel on Delta to what Delta charges their own SkyMiles members (at the saver level)
For travel between the US & Canada or on US transcontinental routes, the cost of first/business class awards is increasing from 50,000 miles to 65,000 miles."
According to Lucky: "The contract for their partnership runs through at least the end of the year," Still kind of ambiguous...
