How to remove SM# from flight?
I've been trying to remove my SM# from my last flight of the year to keep from making DM. (Will be over by 20 miles)
The gate agent and dm line couldn't do it as when they removed it it would ask for a code they had never seen before. I'm on the flight now and asked at @deltaassist and they haven't replied yet. Any other way to get miles removed from the account? They all thought I was crazy that I don't want the miles. Maybe Delta's computers think they are helping in this case when in fact they are not. |
If the miles credit, you might have a hard time avoiding DM.
|
Sign up for an Alaskan account, or some other partner airline, and just have them sub in the other account#.
|
Good idea. Then you avoid wasting the miles. Even orphans might be useful to you someday.

Has OP already flown a segment on this reservation?
|
Since you've already flown it you're probably hosed, but why would having ~49k rollover be preferable to having DM for the next 15 months?

That said, this would have been the easiest way, though you may have run afoul of DL for using your DL # to book (and presumably get free EC etc) then switching. |

Similarly, America is the country and American is a person. Yet there is an "American army." :) |
I tried to have it removed before flying the first segment and they couldn't do it. When I got back to ATL an agent at a Skyclub was able to remove it. They said they had to do things in a certain order.
Hopefully, the flown segment won't post. Will report back in a few days. I don't want diamond as I need the roll over since I may only fly 25k next year. In my mind DM-PM-PM is better than DM-DM-FO. To big a crash in one year. |

Are you going to hit MQDs with only 25k in flights for PM (or spend 25k on a DL AMEX) next year?
|
If you've flown, i think you are too late. They will now post to Delta and it will be impossible to change that now.
|
You can change from SkyMiles to another partner program mid-itinerary, even after you have checked in for the flight segment. I have done this with FB (although these miles are even more worthless than SkyMiles, so just consider them discarded if you do this with FB).
Just ask at the check in counter to change the frequent flyer number. If you have already flown the segment, I think you are out of luck. |

Yeah, seems like it shouldn't be showing up at all if your number wasn't attached.
