What is up with DL 9864 IAH-DFW?
It seems a little early in the morning to be a sports charter (but it did leave late). Something to do with the President Kennedy festivities?

I thought the 8xxx flight numbers were for charters and 9xxx were for maintenance and re-positioning flights. It could be a live positioning flight where revenue seats are sold, I've been on a few of those. 9864 would indicate to me positioning, but I could be wrong.

Oh fair enough. It's an MD-88, wonder how it out out of kilter.

I'd like to know what that one was doing as well. Judging from the flight number and very quick turnaround, I'd venture a guess of either maintenance or pilot training.

Flight diverted to IAH enroute to DFW due to weather. So the flight was a continuation of last night.

Yeah, it was pretty ugly getting in here (DFW) last night. I was coming in from Denver and was delayed there for the snow, then by the time we finally left the gate and were de-iced, DFW closed... so back to the gate we went. With nothing to do but kill time, I started checking flightaware. There were all kinds of diversions for flights into DFW last night.
