Exclamation DL 2014 Oversold

Looks like they are looking for volunteers, when in checked in via OlCI it asked me if I wanted to place a bid. I'd settle for $400 for my first class seat as long as I can get a full refund (52,500 miles) for my MSP-ATL round trip without penalty. We will see what happens tomorrow. I'm less excited to go on this trip due to weather and the fact this is only the last "scheduled" DC-9 flight yet not the last operating one at DL.

Four years ago I booked the final "scheduled" DC-9-30 flight from EWR-MSP. Those planes ended up working flights for two more weeks in DTW.

If they accept my bid one of you lucky diamonds might get an upgrade!

On the "other site," someone mentioned that N770NC was doing the last flights, but because of weather and cancellations, that a/c is no longer in position for the finals. Supposedly, N780NC maybe the a/c handling the flights.

On a side note, today brought me my last DC-9 flight. I flew on N767NC from SDF to ATL. I have flown 59 segments on the DC-9-50 over the years.

Looks like my seat on 2014 will be available. I had booked a DTW-ORD-MSP positioning flight tomorrow on UA using award miles, but UA has cancelled all the morning DTW-ORD flights and the soonest they can get me to MSP is now 6:30PM via IAD.

I was going to say that you can have my DTW-MSP seat since I couldn't get to DTW today, but 1965 is showing all zeroes.

2014 is Y3 with everything else zero.

My flight landed at MSP this morning at 2:25 am. The sad thing was that another DL flight landed just before us.

Now N780NC is doing ATL-BTR-ATL on 6 Jan.

DL 2012 is now airborne ATL-ORD which will feed ORD-DTW, DTW-MSP and MSP-ATL. No idea what the ship # is.

Here is my photo of N773NC departing ATL this morning for ORD, starting the circle trip for the "final" flight. I will be joining her at MSP back to ATL on DL2014.

FYI for folks doing any of the northern segments of the circle: Plan to wear hats and gloves, as well as your coat, just to walk through the jetway to board or deplane. It's cold in there, even if you aren't slowed down by congestion.

We know many of you have an interest in the final flight of the DC-9 so we wanted to provide you with an update of Delta’s plans to retire the aircraft type.

While today’s flight is the last regularly scheduled departure of the DC-9, two aircraft will remain available for active back-fill support over the next few weeks as we continue to accept 717 aircraft deliveries and place them into service. Maintaining a diverse fleet, including the DC-9, allows Delta the flexibility to ensure consistent operational reliability for customers.

What are the plans? Will you be around for any of the festivities?

Looks like 1813 is taking a delay. This will likely cascade into 1965, but 2014 should be okay as they left quite a bit of buffer time. DTW is still having some issues today --

Waiting here on 665 in BNA; will catch 1965 and now have a seat on it, if and only if it is delayed out. Else I hope to catch up to 2014 in MSP on the next flight (weather deities willing). Guy behind me in the SkyClub gave up 3C on 2014 FWIW.
