So our tech teams can work on delta.com and mobile app response times, we’ll be performing maintenance tonight starting midnight Eastern Time. We expect to have functionality back up in the early morning hours.

Problem is it's been 24+ hours with web site & app issues. Completely disrupts the entire travel experience for your best customers. On a Monday no less. What's taking so long in resolving the issue? Finally fixing that award calendar?? :p |

Queen of the ATL sky club in Atlanta D said DELTA app GOING offline ltonight for serious repairs... AT midnight. App going down at midnight as well... She was reading from an internal email.

Been having problems with the app since 2PM yesterday PST. Sitting in KOA now and the app still gets stuck on the login screen. Guess I'll try upon landing in LAX as it should be fixed by then it seems.

I heard a guy on one of the cable networks say a non-functioning website was grounds for impeachment -- should we expect RA's resignation any tine soon :)

It's probably just the effect of how bad the last couple of days have been, but the Android app does seem to be working even better this morning than the last couple of weeks. |

As someone who has been part of more web application upgrades/deployments than I care to think about, here's my speculative feeling on what happened...
In my opinion based on observed behavior on Sunday/Monday, they did a feature release (possibly with defect fixes as well) on Sunday morning in the wee hours. Most large companies with 24/7 coverage have a release window that is something like 2-4AM on Sunday mornings where it causes the least amount of impact and support calls. The release caused some massive problem. Sunday evening they tried some quick-fix that managed to get them through until yesterday. Last night they either backed whatever they put into production on Sunday morning, or put in new patch to fix the problem that Sunday morning's release caused. |
