Hi All,

As this question has come up quite a bit in the past couple of weeks, I figured I'd create a master thread to help consolidate all of the recent posts.

I hope this helps everyone!

:)

As of Nov. 7, 2013, the two primary offers to earn additional MQMs are:

I predict "no".

Because they've given us way too much this year. I mean, 24 hours to SDC and still requiring us to have the same fare bucket? They gave us hot bagel sandwiches on some routes that previously only had the cereal option? They've given PM/DM's porsches in MSP? And they are updating IFE in 757 while cutting FC seats so you can have a more enjoyable experience?

C'mon now. They are giving us too much these days. Surely they will not give us the opportunity to buy MQM's to reach status if we are close.

This thread is aimed to inform FTers on the topic. Plenty of other forums to use to complain about the various changes.

It will come - it is pure profit for DL. It is just a matter of time. Robin, thanks for pulling this altogether into one thread.

DeltaFFATL Nov 7, 2013 3:31 pm

You will without a doubt be able to buy MQMs again this year. For one, its almost all profit for them and a huge cash generator. Secondly, it gives DL staff and easy response to all those people asking to be considered for the next level status as they are so close...

You can also very likely expect a decent increase in costs this year.

mcdeuce Nov 7, 2013 3:32 pm

I hope they dangle that carrot! Good post, thanks.

Do you have any evidence of this?

With all due respect, it is a public forum and no one except the moderators can really say what is and is not allowed to be posted (and even then the mods pretty much only restrict things according to the TOS).

AA offers renewal elite sale today and also MQM for salemiles to buy

A year from now there will be speculation on whether DL will sell MQD. Why not? Someone who has all the MQM for the desired level but is short, say, $1,000 of MQD, may be willing to cough up the change. Should DL sell MQD on a 1 to 1 valuation? At a discount? At a premium? Not at all? Check back next year.

I don't think AA is selling EQMs though - just "boosting" you to the next level based on expected miles needed to the next level if you're within 5k of Gold and 10k for Platinum or EXP.

http://www.aa.com/i18n/urls/eliterenewal.jsp

Of note, though, unlike DL (who in the past only sold MQMs), AA is offering a boost for EQM or EQS.

After reading the thread title I clicked on the thread expecting to read some new "definitive" information on this oft discussed topic.

All I see so far is more subjective speculation. Nothing new here. <sigh>

Except AA pulled the trigger today and so there is activity out there for UA and DL to react too or not. That's new.

durango67 Nov 10, 2013 5:30 am

Has anyone asked Delta customer service directly, will it be offered? If so, would they answer other than "I don't know or I haven't heard". It is hell to get to someone with authority that can answer questions with definitive answers.
