Million Miler Benefits

I came across the webpage below, which I find very confusing.

https://www.delta.com/content/www/en...er-status.html

How can you get repeatedly Gold (2 & 3M) or Plat (4, 5 & 6M)? Do they mean you can gift it?

It is complimentary annual status for achieving those million miler levels... so if you don't fly at all in a year, you would still have GM status if you have 2MM+. No you cannot gift million mile status.

It means that there is no additional benefit until you hit the next levels.

I agree the graphic is terrible. At each 1 MM point, you get to select a gift from Tumi, Tiffany, or Hartmann. At 5+ MM you get a wider/nicer selection from the same merchants.

The "complementary annual" status is Silver at 1MM, Gold at 2MM, Platinum at 4MM. Diamond not included...perhaps this will be a "giveback" some day

To clarify my previous post, there is no additional status benefit unless you're at the levels DADaDan mentioned.

Personally, I think the Delta MM program needs improving. First off, I took the Hartmann luggage. I wouldn't wish that POS on my worst enemy. It lasted less than 2 years. My current $100 bag has lasted nearly twice as long. I do hear good things about the Tumi stuff.

The FO status gains me nothing. I am still flying after all. I definitely think (and not purely from a selfish point of view) that MMs should start the year with 25,000 MQMs. If they want to leave the MQDs from next year forward, then so be it.

No level for DM is a joke.

I once thought that all miles should count but I have decided that is a bad idea.

Nothing at 5 MM and 6 MM is a joke. I would be interested to know what the "one time customized gift at 7 MM" is. I suppose they don't have a deal with Jennifer Aniston for a one year starter relationship and then you are on your own, do they? Of course, anyone that gets that will be like a million years old anyway.

To get in good with Jennifer Aniston just brush up on your kung fu movies.

Does knowing that Carl Douglas sang Ku Fu Fighting count?

Agree that DL's MM program is a joke.

I don't often hand out compliments to Continited, but their conference of Global Services status for 4MM is arguably their best benefit. Lifetime platinum vs UA GS is a no brainer. If you knew you would be flying that much, it’s hard to argue against being in their program.

I agree that the quality is not sufficient for a road warrior. I am sure it is great for a high-end twice a year luxury traveler, but not for a grinder. However...

They are very good about repair/replace. I forget what went wrong with mine the first time around, but I mailed it back in for repair and they sent me a brand new one. The second time around, the handle was malfunctioning. I sent it back in and they returned it properly repaired. So long as they honor the lifetime warranty, I am fine with mine. (N.B. These two issues took place in just four years, since 2009 = about 700k BIS miles in that time)

At 6mm I was recognized at LGA and announced status on the plane. When I got to ATL I was greeted at the gate by the Station Mgr and other employes(this was prior to Porsche service) and greeted with signs. I received some goodies inc Delta Glasses and taken to the T Concourse SkyClub and they moved the gate to a T gate. When I arrived home at BHM, I was met at the gate with a really nice gift basket and escorted to my car. For my gift I chose a really nice Hartmann Roll a Board that my wife uses. I had to buy her another piece to match.
I appreciated the recognition. I, or rather my wife, is thanked for my loyalty and the mileage is mentioned every time she calls. For me the fact that Delta goes the extra mile when I have flight difficulties is more important to me than anything.
As I approach 7mm, I too wonder what the special experience is.
I feel my status is appreciated.

I feel my status is appreciated too but I basically don't get much out of it. Specifically, the FO status gains anyone nothing as long as they keep flying for significant revenue. One would assume that Delta would want that. No lifetime DM status is a joke to me too. Delta is basically not inspiring me to be the road warrior forever and let's be assured it needs some inspiration.
