Rollover

Hello All:
I have a chance to make DM on segments but I won't make the miles. Does anyone know if my over-PM (but below DM) miles will roll over, or would I start 2014 with 0 MQM? If they don't roll over then I might avoid the DM in order to start 2014 with a ton of miles.

Remember that if you'll qualify next year based on segments, the rollover MQMs won't matter. They also won't help you if you can't meet or waive the new MQD requirement.

No, if you make Diamond on segments, you will not get rollover MQM's unless you exceed 125,000 MQM's.

Welcome to FT.

I believe that the OP is implying that if he holds short of the 140 Segs, he'll have a good rollover which may enable him to qualify on MQM at a DM or PM level next year.

Understood, but the question is whether those MQMs will help the OP next year. If not, it would be better to enjoy a year of DM now.

OP - No. This is one of the many ways DL shows it's disregard for segments qualifiers. Our segments die, rather than roll over. For some reason, despite the fact that we now know that segments qualifiers spend more than miles qualifiers, we are treated as lessers when it comes to rollover. Our segments don't count extra on expensive tickets, despite the extra MQMs for the same flights, we don't qualify for credit card bonus segments, despite MQMs being offered and we aren't able to purchase a couple extra segments at the end of the year if we are close, but not quite there.

I did stop short one year, but ultimately qualified the next year on segments, rendering stopping moot. Don't do it. You'll regret stopping short. You'll wind up having to do your 100 segments for next year and won't have anything to show for the rollover. I learned that lesson, and am planning to pass the 140 mark this year.

Good advice from one who lives it. Unless your travel is going to change dramatically and make you an MQM qualifier, this is the best advice you'll get.

After I hit 140 segments this year I switched over AA and have earned Executive Platinum. Now I have options for next year. I must admit, the AA First Class product is nice. No malice against Delta but the rub goes both ways .....

Not sure if this post would be better in the newbie lounge or here, so I apologize if this isn't right.

Do miles only roll over if you make medallion, or if I'm just short of silver will 24k roll over to next year? Normally I'm AA but will be Delta for the end of this year and most of next so hitting silver this year would be nice.

Thanks!

No rollover unless you at least qualify for Silver, 25,000 MQMs.

Nope, no rollover unless you hit the Silver status threshold.
