Even though DFW isn't a hub, it does many flights per day.

13x - ATL
6x - DTW
7x - MSP

Don't forget (from what I found from a sample Monday next Month):
5x - SLC
8x - LGA
1x - JFK
3x - CVG
2x - MEX (is this daily?)

MEM

It's not a huge increase, but I definitely noticed some new flights at DTW, MSP, and *gasp* CVG! Of course there's a gazillion flights from MEM to ATL to shuttle those O/D passengers to the mega-hub.

We've beat this dead horse up over and over. I am aware that Delta tried to "make MEM work" in several ways, such as trying to become what DFW used to be for them. However, I can't help but think that they didn't put much effort into trying to get it to work, as they seem to have wasted no time in re-directing their passenger flow.

Oh well, it doesn't affect me too much, but I will miss flying through that airport. Maybe I'll make a trip to visit Memphis just for fun, assuming I can cough up enough money for the ticket price!

I stopped flying in and out of MEM when DL kept those Saab prop-jobs running. I did one once and that was the end for me. I know they pulled those, but using them until recently killed MEM for moi.

Despite DL no longer formally calling MEM a hub, it still offers quite a few connections through it. Check from airports like ORD, IND, CMH, and PIT to destinations like DFW, IAH, SAT, AUS and MSY and MEM is often the first option that shows up. I suspect they are still running a fair amount of connecting traffic through MEM as it's generally the cheapest option.

I would rather have the Saab 340 than the 50 seat CRJ anytime. Plus, how many markets do they concede because of nothing smaller than 50 seats. I am pretty sure SkyWest has consistently made money flying some very small markets in the mountain west.

exactly this. just because it's not profitable for DL to operate a hub there doesn't mean that demand for travel to MEM fell off completely. there should still be some options to most major (and some secondary) cities - it's not like operations ceased altogether
