Why is this is a red-eye flight?

Just saw this on one of my itineraries.....does it mean anything?

BTW, it leaves at 2200 and arrives at 2300.....hardly a red-eye IMO

This is a red-eye flight

And I'm assuming this flight doesn't cross the international date line? :D

They put the red-eye thingy on every flight that departs at night after 2200 regardless of duration. Yes, it's silly.

It means it is fully within the state of Colorado

This is a red-eye flight

Maybe this is what Delta does to avoid being accused of playing dirty tricks like British Airways.

Could be an LAX/SFO flight. . .

Just don't forget to take a bottle of Visine!

;)

I find the eye-con very helpful. I can quickly skip over that flight.

Excellent - yes I read that. IMHO it is not a BA dirty trick though. An experienced traveller should know about Zulu time, 24 hour clock etc

I also agree it is helpful

Any ideas on who can change the name of the thread? The current title changes the context of my question and also makes me sound like a moron.

Why is this is a red-eye flight? This was NOT the name of the thread. This is BS

I said that in jest as I think that is entirely on the passenger. I do think the icon is useful for passengers when scanning flight options. I'm happy to see it even if it's silly on my 250 mile flight.

They need to have a logo with the eyelid closed for redeye flights. As in go to sleep! I'm going to make a reccomendation to Delta to disable reading lights on redeye flights. I'm sure there would be some maintainance cost savings to be realized in doing that.

When is a red-eye not a red-eye?

Aha. So that's why DL 322 departing LAS at 2155 arriving JFK at 0545 is not a red-eye.

javabytes Aug 31, 2013 1:16 pm

For me any flight departing before 11AM is a redeye... Mornings suck...

You are dreaming if you think any average American (experienced traveler or not) has a clue about Zulu time unless they watch NCIS a lot...and even then it is doubtful.
