I've done them all...

I've been dragging my behind all over the USA since 1983. I've flown them all in first, biz and coach. With the exception of the revitalized CO (before UA but after their near demise), DL consistently offers the better product. The keys here are consistent and better. I've had my issues with DL and they're far from perfect, but I've stuck with them.

Despite flying 5 hours in a fabulous 737-300 (I think), I was glad to get out of that and every other Delta plane.

Please learn from my experiences, as I am unlikely to become one until Delta can provide me a comparable and consistent experience.

DL parked the last of its 733s in the desert some time ago. Perhaps you were on WN.

I would be interested in which domestic carriers you think will provide "a comparable and consistent experience." Netjet?

I had a 6-month stint as a High School substitute teacher in the past where I knew that a student could have done much better than getting a 68 on a quiz. When I spoke to him, his response was, "but more than half the class failed." So do we allow comparison with the worst? Or do we want to set a higher standard? "I expected you to get at least a 90" was my response. I don't think I was being too harsh.

The problem with the domestic carriers is that they just want to outshine the local competition, while international carriers set a high standard for the company to meet. This, in turn, breeds the mentality of "good enough" and that attitude is passed down to the customers. The fact that customer service is a big part of each domestic carrier's function has almost been forgotten.

How to change this attitude is a big question since it has become culture. I expect more services and benefits to be cut, and I expect to be charged more in the future. But is it right to expect a race to the bottom rather than a race to the top?

You are, of course, correct in your suggestion that it's not right to expect a race to the bottom. I guess I've gotten old and cynical. It's not likely to change, I'm afraid.

While I used your previous post as a reply, please forgive me in that I did not intend for this to be a question or a reflection on your thoughts. I did mean it rhetorically for everyone: When Delta takes away 10 benefits and later returns 3, they do not deserve praise for the "3 enhancements." They should be remembered for the other 7 that they took away.

Maybe paying for her to obtain a GED on her own time would help, but I don't know whether DL has such a program or could strongly encourage an employee to pursue a more decent basic education.

A high school diploma/GED is noted as a minimum requirement for the job...not that it has helped in this case.

Minimum Requirements
At least 18 years of age.
High school diploma or GED...
