Wrong Safety Video
 

I was on a flight this past weekend and noticed the safety video said the exits on the aircraft were for a 757-200, yet we were on a 757-300. The flight attendants didn't even know which 757 it was also during the pre-takeoff announcement. I sent a message to Delta just letting them know to check the VHS tapes on that particular aircraft.

How much trouble can they get into for not giving out correct information? I have no desire to report them to anyone, just curious.

Thats a big no-no... FAA can slap a lovely fine for having the wrong safety info in the plane. If its wrong, its considered the same as not showing it at all.

The plane can't even leave the gate if it doesn't have the correct safety cards in each seat pocket. It is likely a six figure fine for the airline if the FAA were to track down the airplane and check the tape. Technically, if the OP was correct, DL would be fined for flying an aircraft was wasn't airworthy.

I've been told by some PMNW folks that DL has an excess number of AD violations for the year. With the mix of the fleet I wouldn't be surprised if a number of them involve safety information ADs. I don't have the details of ADs, I'm hoping it's paperwork issues and not something more serious with techops.

Delta wrote me back just a bit ago, threw some miles my way for not receiving the "best customer experience." I understand mistakes happen and hope that a simple mix up of tapes wouldn't result in such a HUGE fine. I just wanted to make sure this was caught so it could be corrected and better training of the FA to pay attention to the videos to make sure the customers understand what to do in an emergancy on the right aircraft.

Please write the FAA.

With all the money that DL has realized by "de-contenting" the SkyClubs, they can easily afford the fine.

What does AD stand for? It's not often I run across an unfamiliar acronym here on FT!

If a flight does not conform will all current Airworthiness Directives then by default the flight wasn't air worthy. Habitual violations can mean fines in the 10s of millions of dollars.

Hello, how about that. I would have let one of the FAs know that the wrong tape was playing. If the correct tape wasn't present, then a manual safety demo would have been done.

The FAs are supposed to check all safety equipment. The ground guys are responsible for boarding the tapes. Unfortunately, you and the other passengers were let down on two fronts. That 200 tape should never have made it onto a 300.

The FAs will be talked to for their error. The person in charge of ground staff will also be contacted to let them know of their error as well. No one will be terminated, unless they are on a couple of warnings. Being reminded of safety rules is needed. That's why FAs are on board.

Great information thanks! I have to laugh a little cause I was in seat 1C and I didn't realize the -300 used VCRs for everything on the overhead IFE.
