Booking award ticket from the US to San Carlos de Bariloche (BRC)

I've been trying to book an award ticket from RDU to BRC, but not having any luck. Would I have to actually book two tickets, RDU-EZE-RDU and then a domestic ticket with AR?

How did you try to book? Did you call?

I don't think AR flights will show up on DL.dum

That's correct - AR doesn't show on DL.com. You will need to call to book.

AR is available for viewing on Expertflyer. Use EF to find the AR flights you want and then tag them on to your Delta flights. Make sure you keep an eye on your BUE connection as most AR flights to BRC depart from AEP, not EZE (where your DL flight will operate).

Yes, I'm aware of the airport transfer need. Thank you for the suggestion, I'll try that.

Side question... would a stay over in Buenos Aires for, say, a week be allowed?

For example:

1: Depart RDU
2: Arrive into EZE, transfer to AEP, fly to BRC
6: Fly back to AEP
12: Fly back to RDU

Award tickets get a stopover for free. But keep in mind that any layover >24 hours is considered a stopover. As long as your EZE-AEP transfer is same day it should be fine. But if you want to spend the night in BUE you will need to take the earliest flight the next morning.

You could do a weeklong stopover in one direction and keep the connection in the other direction under 24 hours. (Sometimes there's an exception for taking the next legal connection even if it's over 24 hours, but I don't think that applies here.)
