Award availability/cost SEA->MAN

Award availability/cost SEA->MAN
I was looking at award availability for MAN->SEA and the only low miles price flights were for 2 days in march next year, and few med price in the summer. Is the award availability normally that low, or is this inventory management run amok?
The fees also seemed high at nearly $500 for a round trip.
