Alaska PNR
I'm on hold on the SMS line with a baffled agent. I have several flights on Alaska coming up. I've never flown on Alaska before and when I searched on flyertalk I saw that you needed the Alaska PNR in order to select preferred seats. The agent said that there are no Alaska confirmation numbers on my itineraries. The itineraries are a mix of DL and AS operated flights. Has anyone else encountered this problem?

Simple (and easy) solution: Call up Alaska Airlines and give them your flight info. They will be able to give you the AS PNR. Then go to alaskaair.com and select your seats.
I have done this many times with great success. |

I also rarely get hold times of more than a few minutes calling Alaska as a non-elite; the norm is for them to answer the phone essentially instantly. Also note that Alaska's web site now has the ability to link multiple reservations online, useful if you're on separate reservations. |
Ok thanks. The agent's supervisor actually called Alaska to get the PNR for the first itinerary. I told the agent I'd just call Alaska myself for the others.
|
I flew on an AS flight two days ago. After I ticketed it, the computer system recognized me as a DL PM and I was able to select elite seats without having to call.

When booking a ticket thru AS they always provide the PNR for other carriers. Both for DL and others, I've had KL, CX and 7H displayed. Any idea why DL doesn't support this? Even an itin ticketed by DL has both the AS and DL PNR's displayed on AS' site. As a global airline one would think DL could support this.

If a flight is booked as a code share (Delta flight, Alaska metal) Delta does not get a PNR locater that they can see. If it is an Alaskan flight with Alaskan metal, then Delta receives a PNR locator.
|
If your an MVP or higher Alaska flyer just call them at the number on the back of your card (You'll through faster on the MVP line). They can tell you the PNR and even do the seat selection for you. I just did it today. I love Alaska.

Perhaps one day Delta will throw us a bone and give us the AS PNR and market it as a coveted enhancement...

Well thank you for the advice but take note that I started this thread over two years ago. Those flights have come and gone. :D

And no DL has not fixed it yet :( |
Well, since you guys resurrected this thread . . .
Being fed up with the high Delta fare ATL-SEA, I flew AS for the first time in years this week. I booked it through AS a couple of weeks ago, but in my profile I listed my DL SM number. It gave me an AS PNR, but also recognized my status and allowed me to book the preferred seats. Then on Monday when I checked in for the Tuesday departure, I found out I was upgraded. Flight was great, service wonderful. Tuesday I checked in for the Wednesday return, found out I was upgraded again, and on the flight yesterday the service was spectacular. The FA memorized everyone's first name and gave the best service I've gotten in 10 yeas. Almost like going back to the golden age of flying. So it was much more than simply getting an AS PNR, I was really a convert. |
