To me, it was worth it. Platinum is much better than Gold, especially with the redeposit of award miles with no fee, better accommodations in IRROPS, better upgrades. I also believe that Silver is better than no status. |

Grats and yeah I have a spreadsheet for my travel to watch and log, sad but oh so much fun. Looking forward to making gold in 12k more MQM's or June.
Too bad you can't fly Delta from Elko to Winnemucca and back that would be an easy trip. |
Can we just add MQD as an alternate qualifier?

I agree I think MQD may cause some PR problems, where someone has 100 segments and 20k MQD and barely makes Platinum.

Okay, so!
I upgraded my Gold Delta Amex to Platinum right on my year anniversary and got 10k miles + 5k MQM bonus, which puts me closer with miles (though segments would have been more helpful). I am trying to plan out the rest of my year because I should hit the lowest status easily unless I goof up somewhere. I have three things to play with: $400 voucher from VDB 2 companion certs (one from husband's Amex, one from mine) I've read the rules for everything, but I want to double check here because it's a lot to read and understand for the first time.. so this is how I understand it (please correct me if I'm wrong!) When I use the $400 voucher, the ticket the voucher is used for will still earn MQM's When I use a companion certificate, the companion on the flight will not earn MQM's, but the original ticket buyer will I'll also be near having enough miles for an award ticket towards the end of the year, but I know those do not earn MQM's because I already goofed that up this year. If I DO make status this year and fly next year using award miles, I would not be eligible for the very slim chance I could get upgraded, correct? All of this makes me want to just fly to Europe and back really fast so I get the miles rather than having to work with a spreadsheet, ha. |

[\QUOTE] I am assuming that when you say barely make status that you will be an FO. Silver does not get upgraded on an award ticket, you must be GM+ for that perk |

I qualify by segments, just hit PM last year with about 9 months of travel and will barely hit DM this year traveling all year averaging 3 weeks a month. If we went by MQD I would hit the $12,500 mark after about 20 trips. As it stands now I need 35 to make PM. My regular travel pattern is 4 MQS, 2000 MQM & about $650 per ticket. And of course no segment carry over if I get "lucky" enough to make more than 140 MQS in a year.

60 segments so far this year...do not think I will make a 100...
|
I'm at 78 segments YTD and will be around 110 at the end of the year, with about 65,000 BIS MQMs. But I bit the bullet this year and got the Reserve card--with the bonuses I'll roll over about 15,000 MQM this year, woo hoo!
