I keep forgetting that you can't make jokes on the DL board.
So... is ATL running at 100% today? |

ATL on fire thread!
Could this thread become legendary? It has all the elements so far. Catchy title enticing everyone to read? Check. Way off topic political ramblings? Check. Really long posts that few will read but those that do will respond by quoting the full post? Check. What else do we need?

You do realize that the Taxiway D at ATL is named Dixie as to not confuse Delta with Delta Airlines too? Dixie is fitting considering ATL is in the South after all. :D
O, I wish I was in Dixie! Hooray! Hooray! |

Being this close to St. Patrick's Day, I'm sure there will be more Shenanigans than normal. |

This thread definitely has potential. Trying to figure out the Dixie Carter reference.

It would be perfect if a flight out of LAX forgot the gluten free meal choice and had broken IFEs and no diet drinks and the protests were so loud that it caused an earthquake, starting fires and killing 100s of people and then PR Weezer could use it to make a snarky remark about DYKWIAs? I am just thinking out loud here.... There's gotta be something better, but I am on a deadline for a piece for the Oinion and I am putting all I have into it... Cheers?

Worth noting that the same company that makes the train cars (Bombardier) is also responsible for bringing the CRJ family to the world. Coincidence? :D

It's only different in ATL. It'd be "Delta" overload if a controller said "Delta (the airline) XZY, taxi via Delta (the taxiway) to the ramp" or something like that. Just a safeguard used to |

From the letter to the mayor of Atlanta pleading for mercy:
You might as well appeal against the thunder-storm as against these terrible hardships of war. They are inevitable, and the only way the people of Atlanta can hope once more to live in peace and quiet at home, is to stop the war, which can only be done by admitting that it began in error and is perpetuated in pride. We don't want your Negroes, or your horses, or your lands, or any thing you have, but we do want and will have a just obedience to the laws of the United States. That we will have, and if it involved the destruction of your improvements, we cannot help it. You have heretofore read public sentiment in your newspapers, that live by falsehood and excitement; and the quicker you seek for truth in other quarters, the better. I repeat then that, by the original compact of government, the United States had certain rights in Georgia, which have never been relinquished and never will be; that the South began the war by seizing forts, arsenals, mints, custom-houses, etc., etc., long before Mr. Lincoln was installed, and before the South had one jot or title of provocation. I myself have seen in Missouri, Kentucky, Tennessee, and Mississippi, hundreds and thousands of women and children fleeing from your armies and desperadoes, hungry and with bleeding feet. In Memphis, Vicksburg, and Mississippi, we fed thousands and thousands of the families of rebel soldiers left on our hands, and whom we could not see starve. Now that war comes to you, you feel very different. You deprecate its horrors, but did not feel them when you sent car-loads of soldiers and ammunition, and moulded shells and shot, to carry war into Kentucky and Tennessee, to desolate the homes of hundreds and thousands of good people who only asked to live in peace at their old homes, and under the Government of their inheritance. But these comparisons are idle. I want peace, and believe it can only be reached through union and war, and I will ever conduct war with a view to perfect an early success. William Tecumseh Sherman |

Quick, save the Woodford! But, if they want to use the SC wines to put out the fire, it would serve as a better use for them. :D |
Perhaps Shena's upgrade list was destroyed in the fire?

If we can't name ATL after Sherman, can we at least rename it Hartsfield-Jackson Hotlanta International Airport? :D |

Moving sidewalks are fine. It's the trains that are having problems. The Bombardier guys are running test runs with them

Interesting. I was on it several times this morning and it seemed like it was running slower and jerkier than usual -- I saw several people almost take a tumble when we left the station.

Watching others stumble and fall on the train is the only part of connecting through ATL that puts a smile on my face. I don't even bother with the hand rails anymore. Years of riding that train has given me a well calibrated rear-end and I can sense where the balance point should be.
