Problems with Delta.com
If any DL reps read this, please note that there are two problems that have been plaguing your website for quite some time:
1. It is impossibly slow. It takes 2-3 minutes to load the home page so that one can sign in, and at least 60-90 seconds every time one moves to a new page. I have an exceptionally fast connection at work. The culprit is something called gtag.yieldoptimizer.com. 2. It displays 95% of DL domestic flights as "Upgrade Not Available" when one hits the "Upgrade Availability" link on the flight selector menu, even though I am a DM and most of the flights have FC wide open. Please attend to this and get it fixed. I have called the DL Website folks numerous times, and none of them have a clue as to what I'm talking about. Indeed, most of them don't know what the "Upgrade Availability" link is or what "Upgrade Not Available" even means. And of course, no one has ever heard of gtag.yieldoptimizer.com. As it is, I can't use the site to make reservations. Thanks, Mike |
I'd suggest clearing your browser cookies first to see if that helps with the site loading issues. Also might be worth running a quick check of your data connection (http://speedtest.net/).
The upgrade ineligible/eligible issue might be tied to skymiles numbers not being properly pulled into the system until during the final booking process. I've noticed that issue when searching prices, but had it resolve as I start the booking process (where you start entering your name and whatnot, but before you hit the pay button). My hunch, dl.com is getting mixed signals between "upgrade requested" but not properly passing off the SM#/eligibility during the first stage of shopping for your flights. Once you start actually entering your info (which pulls data from the servers behind the scenes to fill in the blanks) I've always had the ineligible switch to upgrade eligible. Mildly annoying yes, but at least for me (FO) I've always seen it resolve properly before I hit 'submit $$$'. Hope this helps! |
I also am presently seeing that when I search for 2 tickets - shows as "Not Upgrade Eligible" at the first Trip Summary page after choosing my outbound and return flights, after I go through the "Enter Passenger Information" screen and get to the Review before purchase screen it switches to Upgrade Eligible.
In the case of searching for 2 tickets the absence of the 2nd passenger's SM number appears to be causing the "Not Upgrade Eligible", once that gets filled in on the pax info screen we're Upgrade Eligible. |
I think the slowness of the website is on your end as I have loaded it from 2 different computers today from two different locations and on a 3G iphone 15 seconds at most.

Yes
And even though I have checked in...I cannot see the upgrade list on the site. (Although I can through the mobile app).
I miss the old Northwest site! |

Not really a problem unless I'm inflight using slowslow.
It literally takes 10 min to load delta.com or my delta on slowslow |
The "Not Upgrade Eligible" issue still exists. Tried checking on some flights well within my window and every one said "Not Upgrade Eligible" when checking upgrade availability. I was logged in properly. Upgrade inventory shouldn't matter, since it should say either "Upgrade Available" or "Upgrade Eligible".
It used to do this only for award tix, now it does it for paid and award. |

Trip summary page (first page you see after selecting the flights) shows "Not Upgrade Eligible" even while properly logged in.
http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...psdac45a25.png After filling out my personal information (all while logged in) It then switches to Upgrade eligible on the Review and Purchase page before submitting final payment. http://i284.photobucket.com/albums/l...ps9f74aa3f.png I think it's an error with their search system not pulling in the SM info to show upgrade eligibility on the flight searches, but once you start filling in pax info it properly pulls in the eligibility info at that time. It might be an error with the fields and the search platform... without knowing more about how their software works though it's just a guess. However, I DO know that I don't worry about the upgrade eligibility issue until I get all the way through to the Review before purchase screen. As long as I show Up Elig. at that point I know I'm good to hit the payment submission button. Hope this helps clarify for people. I know it's not completely satisfying, but it's a relatively minor issue that I don't consider mission critical (yet) for dl.com either. |
Thanks. I've never entered my personal info manually for fear of screwing up my TSA-pre ability. I go right to the "Buy Now" button, but I want to see in advance if upgrades are available.

Web Ad firm (like doubleclick). It's in the ....... Plus Easylist subscription list. It's got nothing to do with how fares are displayed. The "yield" it is optimizing is on web ad returns, not airfares.

yah ... the website is a revenue source, not a customer experience enhancement tool
