I think we'll know more once we see what the rotation of the updated A330s is. For instance, I think the chances will be determined in part by whether they base the aircraft at one hub and send it to various outstations or if they turn it at the outstation to send it back to a different hub.

Anyone remember the process these things have to go through? Are they FAA-certified before leaving the shop or is it going to have to sit around in the US for a while before it can start operating normally?

I see it left ANC heading to ATL as DL 9953 today. But it would be interesting on where it does settle in.

They generally come back for a quick check and go out. All of the paper work should be done before they get to TOC though.

also, my understanding is the 333/332 will just fly around the system and not be based at on hub or one city.

like the 767/747/777 fleets you will likely see them promised to one route once they get a few more done. Don't be shocked at all to SEA-NRT go back to the 333 once a few more get done. IMO the 744 is just to much airplane.

IIRC mods start up in Sep for the 330 and AUG for the last handful of 767s.
It shouldn't take more than 3 maybe 4 weeks tops to do the mods once the first two are done. (thus the STC has been given)

N801NW continues on Wednesday to AMS as DL234. I plan to be on it. After that I can't see her next flight, so not sure if she'll just turn around and do DL235 or go someplace else.
