Surprise Plat status
 

Greetings. I had 15,000 mqm's from my Delta Reserve card sitting in my account deposited on Oct. 20. Knowing I had 90 days to claim them I left them in my account to be deposited this year so I could use them toward Gold for 2014.
Looked at my account and Delta deposited them on Jan 20 and counted them on Dec. 31 and gave me Platinum.
Don't the miles count the year when they are deposited and not when they are earned? Is there anything I can do? Thanks

Yes, that's the way it happens and no, there is nothing you can do about it that I am aware of. Others may have had luck in changing it but I have not.

No, the MQMs earned from the Amex DL cards are for the year they were earned, not deposited. I've never heard or seen differently. If I am wrong, I apologize in advance. That said, it does suck that you could've enjoyed platinum status for a few extra months last year.

The rules clearly state that the AMEX MQMS count for the year in which they have been earned. The OP could have gifted them to preserve rollover, but then would have lost the 15,000 MQMs.

Thanks for the info. I thought I had read somewhere it was when it was deposited. Oh well, I did get upgraded my last flight in Dec. I guess I will just have to appreciate being plat for a year and hope I can get to gold w/o those 15000.:)
