Delta 1397 7am Flight

Delta 1397 7am Flight

Awoke at 4:30 for my 7:00am flight, and I have an email of a delay for flight 1397. The delay is minimal 1:30 or so, but the problem is the connection in ATL. It went from a 45 minute layover to a 6 hour layover. I got that fixed, but just curious. I know the plane is at the gate.

There are probably 1000 other reasons that a ane could be delayed, even when the plane is available. Do you want possible reasons? First thing that comes to mind, is, the crew got in late last nite & has a mandatory rest period.

Just confirmed via a 30 second phone call. Flight delayed due to crew rest.

Checking a little further . . . DL1397 came in last nite as DL1395 from ATL, and it arrived more than 2 hours late at 9:33PM, instead of the scheduled time of 7:20. Must be the same crew.

It's no problem, but, this was a really easy one . . . . I just called DL and asked why it was delayed, then, I went to flightaware.com, entered the flight number, and clicked on - "Track Inbound Flight". That's all!

I remember years and YEARS ago, before the internet, when I was a part-time travel agent, I had a "special" program, and I could even tell you the pilot's name!!! Sorry, I couldn't today!

I went to flight aware and saw the delay, but did not know or even think about crew rest. Learn something new everyday
