DM or SWU priority

I have always had such great luck in finding answers here so thanks in advance.

So here is the dumb question this week. Got conflicting answers recently...

I am DM, with a reserve card. If I call Delta and request that a SWU be used on a domestic flight, which gives the higher priority or chance of getting the upgrade? I was told once, that my DM status held priority but then tonight I was told the certificate would move me to the top of the list regardless of complimentary upgrades via status.

I looked here, but just can't seem to figure it out. Any answers would be appreciated.

As long as the SWU is entered and coded correctly it will give you priority over Medallion upgrades.

SWU puts you on the top of the list. It has to be coded properly by the airport however when they put you on the active standby list. Once you checkin at the airport ask them to make sure your standby code is UP2A. That is the code for DM using a SWU. If they tell you it is UP3D, ask them to check with a supe until they can figure it out. Allow for extra time :).

When I had this problem, none of the SkyPriority check in agents knew what I was talking about and there was no redcoat available. Calling the DM line did the trick. It's better to fix it before getting to the gate.

Its sad, but the majority of agents still have no clue about how SWUs are supposed to work.

Sadder, in fact, is that most agents do not know how MANY aspects of the skymiles program work

I care less about DL agents knowing who is given priority by the computer than about the apparent inability to apply the SWU correctly and accurately every time, consistently, without the passenger needing to call back multiple times to verify that things have been done right.
