Obviously I touched a nerve. I'm sorry. AA is a great airline, in spite of it's teeny tiny little international network, and you are wonderful. While I didn't say anything about middle seats in J, now that you mention it, they are awesome. Asking for permission to use the restroom or to stand up and stretch your legs when seated on a window is just one of the joys of travel and I shouldn't have tried to paint it otherwise. Privacy is overrated. Better?

New paint job = lipstick on a pig

AA can take their EXP and stick it where the sun don't shine

Currently working on burning up my AA points on rental cars as I don't plan to set foot on their aircraft again

I am happy with Delta, but I won't have the spending issues to contend with. I spend plenty, but dont get the MQM's other get. My only other choice is US, and I am not a fan. Now if US/AA came about I may think about that.

Flying no status I would take Delta anyday.

The direct aisle access isn't solely about you getting out, but also not having to deal with someone climbing over you to get out. I don't want to sit in the middle and I don't want anyone in the middle next to me.

Heres an idea for those unworthy DL MRers. Since MQ$ doesnt start til next year, Fly DM mileage this year all on $189 transcons. Then switch to AA, try them out, use your 8 swus and see how you like AA. Then when this hopeless failure of MQ$ blows up in Deltas face, And R.A. is forced to put on his kneepads begging you to come back, you can and say, why dont you hum a few bars

Please tell me where I can find these mythical $189 transcons? Seriously, if you are earning your DL status primarily via MR's, you are a very tiny minority of DL fliers and your revenue would not be a blip on DL earnings results. They are certainly not going to fire RA if those people leave.

(That being said I doubt there are lots of DMs in YVR, though there might be more out of SEA)
I am one of those SEA based DM's who was thinking of going to the other side for a while because of the difficulty finding saver awards with DL miles. Even though I really like DL locally and the MQD requirement may not impact me, this EXP offer is tempting me. All my paid travel had been on DL for the last 3 years, so I am out of touch with other airlines. Is domestic travel and upgrades that much difficult with AA compared to DL? Thanks.

Except that MQDs don't include taxes (some are even baked in to the base fare already, will this be calculated?) and other gov fees. Reducing that $1000 quote down 15-30%, especially going to LON. So if I'm flying this 12x a year making Diamond and my spend only reaches Gold, Delta would have to blackmail me with naked photos to stick around.

Anyone else have to fly to get EXP?

I was matched on 6 December, and received the following:

Please accept our invitation to experience some of the special benefits
we provide to members at our highest elite-status level. In a few weeks,
you will receive your AAdvantage Executive Platinum® membership card,
which is valid through March 31, 2013. This unique membership will be
applied to your account in just a few days and will afford you all of
the privileges and most of the benefits of this level....
....Plus, you have the opportunity to extend your AAdvantage Executive
Platinum status through February 28, 2014. Simply earn 25,000
elite-qualifying miles or points between December 1, 2012 and March 31,
2013. Please note that bonus elite-qualifying miles and points earned
through other promotions are excluded from this offer. For details on
earning qualifying miles or points, visit www.aa.com/elitestatus.

Once you meet the goal of 25,000 base elite qualifying base miles or
points by March 31, 2013, you will receive all the benefits and
privileges of our highest elite level, including eight (8) one-way
Systemwide Upgrades. Systemwide Upgrades are valid for travel worldwide
and allow you to confirm a seat in the next class of service at the time
of booking (subject to availability).

So, I have to fly 25,000 EQM or EQP by 31 March, to maintain my status the rest of the year. If I reach this goal, I THEN get my 8 SWUs.

Oh, so far, because I had already booked my Christmas vacation when they matched me, and this is the slow time of the year, I have exactly ZERO miles toward my goal.

Is AA doing a straight match now, or do you still have to meet the requirement?

Thanks

Now that's the kind of reasoned analysis that FT is famous for! ^

(BTW, don't let the door hit you, etc.)

At that time do a reverse status match!

Dude!

AA had a chance to retain my business when I had a major problem on my last trip and they blew me off even knowing I was a DL DM. In fact, I had problems on the last 3 trips on AA. They have a crappy airline and bad service so why would I take their match?

OK, at least that's a valid reason! Now I have a better appreciation of your earlier post.

I'm curious; did you post about this experience?
