Seat selection on RJ135
 

We are on a short flight from LGA to CAE. Plane shows as an RJ135/145.

Rows 3, 4 and 5 show as preferred. Originally I did not select those seats when I booked. I went back in to pick seats and they didn't show on the seat map but when I positioned my mouse right above row 6, selection for row 5 did show and it said free to select it. (my husband is silver-don't know if that makes a difference) Ultimately I did pick those seats and it shows early boarding. Is that the only advantage for those seats on this flight and what is up with the seat map? Thanks for any help understanding this.

Other than this I can not help a whole lot.

I'm not sure about the computer issues associated with picking EC seats on an E135/145. You may have to call the help desk.

I've found all the seats in coach to be about the same on these planes. You might try seatguru.com to get their opinion.

The ERJ-145s were never equipped with EC. Otherwise, the seats are mostly the same. As you're traveling with a companion, I'd choose seats on the B/C side. If traveling alone, obviously the A side is preferable. Also be aware that the overheads on this aircraft are VERY small.

Overall though, a much better ride than the CRJ in just about every way.

12A, B, and C is the way to go on these planes if you can get it--that's the exit row and it's got a good amount of legroom. Otherwise, every seat's the same.

I can confirm that there is no EC on these planes, or at least the one I was on last weekend.

I would also agree that the single seat option is marginally more comfortable than a CRJ-200, especially as at least in my experience, both armrests go up.

The overboard space is only on one side, but it is roughly the same as both sides of a CRJ-200. You may want to make sure to be at the front of your boarding zone if you have anything to put overhead.

20" or more rolling bags will usually be gate checked with a pink tag, and be picked up at the arrival gate of your destination (not in baggage claim).

Also, be aware that these planes don't always warrant a jetbridge, and depending on your origin/destination, you may want to keep a coat available!
