Is it so?
Just completed my Europe trip and hit gold shreshold before year end on 26 December after completing my YYZ-DTW segment, silver bonus posted. The gold status did not get updated until shortly after I arrived at AMS from my DTW-AMS. On my SM account, it shows silver bonus posted for my transatlantic flight. I requested a mileage credit online but nothing replied. Today I called delta and I was informed by the agent that the flight before my status gets updated will only have the elite bonus of the level before the update so only silver bonus for my transatlantic flight, I am wondering is that true or just some false information given by the agent?
Thank you all in advance |
The agent was correct. You do not get the higher bonus until your status actually updates which will take a day or two. If there were several days between your flights, and there had been an unusual delay in your first flight posting, you might have a case. But given you crossed the threshold midtrip as part of a same-day multisegment trip, you don't really have an argument.

My experience, while contradicted by some here, is that the miles will post retroactively in about a week.

I had a similar issue when I hit gold this year. Hit my 60th segment on a DTW-LAS flight, returned two days later, but my status had not yet been changed. On my return LAS-DTW-GSP I was credited silver bonus on my 61st and 62nd segments. Agent on the phone told me that I would not be awarded Gold bonus. Wrote into the website and was quickly reimbursed the correct bonus. If you haven't received a response I'd try writing in again. The threshold for your status bonus is the mileage/segment level, not the time it takes them to "process the paperwork".

The year that I crossed the threshold I never got the bonus retroactively, even after writing DL about it. YMMV.

If your itinerary is YYZ DTW AMS then your status upgrade is after AMS, the completion of the itinerary.

I passed from FO to GM, in 2012, during a multi segment trip. I was not awarded any gm bonus for the segment after I actually passed 50k MQMs. I did not bother to contact Delta requesting the gm bonus, as I've heard it doesn't take effect until the website shows you as a gm.

http://www.flyertalk.com/forum/delta...nus-miles.html. I have received the bonus miles difference for all segments within the same itinerary flown immediately after the one during which I passed the Silver threshold. I wrote to Delta to get the difference. Same happened when I became Gold, but I just followed up on their last email to get the new difference.
