Delta Reserve AMEX... When do new card MQMs post?
 

When do the 10,000 bonus MQMs post after using the Reserve card for the first time? Do you have to do anything like you do after spending $30,000?

Usually they post in a few days. For hitting the $30k spending boost, they generally post a few days after the statement closes for the period when you hit the $30k.

The 15,000 MQMs for a $30,000 threshold post to your account instantly (within seconds) of you selecting your own account. The email saying it's now time to do this appears during the (business) day which is the closing date of your statemtnt. The signup MQMs cannot be gifted and post to your account automatically within a few days. If the spending posts in 2012, they will count as 2012 MQMs even if posted/selected/gifted after NYE.

What email? My wife just passed $30k spending and her 15k regular Sky Miles bonus have posted, but no MQMs as yet.

The fact that the 15k RDM posted means the 15k MQM are available to keep or gift. If she does nothing the, MQMs will show up in her account (as 2012 MQMs) in 90 days. To keep or gift them now go to this link:

I'm very glad to hear that. Can anyone give a guess at how long it takes after applying for an upgrade (I have a DL Amex Gold card now) to get a new card? If I apply and get approved around Dec 18, is that pretty safe?

You might get instant approval and you might be able to have the new card rushed to you.....or you might not. Why wait another month?

I received my Reserve card on 11/15 and made my first purchase on 11/16. Haven't seen the initial 10K MQMs posted to my DL account. My guess is that it will be done when the first statement cycle closes.

Thanks for the replies (everyone) ... the reason I would wait, if I could safely do so, is that I may manage to get the MQMs some other way (by rerouting the two flights I have remaining this year), and getting a new Delta Amex would not otherwise be my choice. But I'm starting to think that I should just suck it up and get a card...

How does earning the threshold bonus (based on 2012 purchases for a statement that closes in 2013) affect the Platinum choices?

If I qualify for PM in 2012, I think I'll get two choices: one immediately, and another in March 2013.

BUT, if I'm put over the line at the statement closing in January 2013 (again, December 2012 spending), will I lose the ability to have the 2012 Platinum choices?

If you qualify as a NEW PM now, before the end of 2012, to become effective through February 28, 2014, you get one PM choice benefit. At the beginning, DL was giving people one for reaching PM during the year and another one for the program year for which one qualified, but this practice has apparently ended.
