What mistake or quirk happened in DL's system doesn't matter. OP stated he searched for first class fares, selected first class fares, and paid for first class fares. DL plaintly states that all of its F buckets--F, P, A--earn 150% MQM. If the OP is accurate in what he says about searching for and choosing first class tickets, he should get 150% MQM.

Is there a way to search for a specific flight by using the Fare Basis Code? For example, if I search on EF and fight the fare basis I want, is there a place where I can plug it in along with my dates with the hopes of having a buyable ticket appear?

It has been debated however that an UP fare could be thrown back in your face during irrops....but that is up for debate. Technically...every first class fare is UPgraded from coach. LOL:rolleyes:

Flight on ticket shows DL3621 from YYZ to ATL for connection to HNL. HNL ticket shows Flight DL837. I looked up flight DL3621 and it shows CRJ900 as plane. I think these planes have first class seats though so not sure if that messed up their system.

Anyways, I called DL today and they checked with the skymiles folks and they said the request had to go to corporate legal to validate the fare basis.

If you selected first on the website, then you should get the bonus miles and MQM for the A fare. There is no such thing as an actual 'A' fare basis... they are all comprised of some sort of UP basis. Same with P, except those are usually the fare basis with a WNUP designator attached on, which occurs when there is either no inventory left in the A bucket and/or no -UP fares that would book into A. Note that I've seen a fare on one or two occasions where it doesn't explicitly have UP in the fare since they run out of room for characters and just has a U in the middle instead.

Was one of your legs on an RJ with no first class? That could help confuse the system. Other thing is that U fare basis could be some special that was being run that the awesome IT system couldn't handle correctly.
