I would have thought that the tax argument might be that DL is giving you the MQMs, not the charity, so that this makes it different.
In the past, DL has sometimes sold MQMs so that they do, in principle, have a market value (price) associated with them. |

AA generously matched me to EXP with milage requirement and bingo I havent looked back. An example, tomorrow I am going LAX-JFK then Sunday JFK-LHR-NCE-LHR-ATL using AA/BA in real international F. Delta MQM purchase 2012 offered?
Anyone with insight as to whether Delta will offer up to 10k MQMs to be purchased towards the end of 2012 as it has done over last few years?

No one knows at this point, last year they announced it on 11/29

This year there will be a fixed number of MQMs available, total, and they will be auctioning them to the highest bidder in 1000 mile lots.
