My silver medallion daughter was upgraded on AUS-ATL and ATL-BOS. Saturday of Labor Day weekend. Good thing too, as she needed the extra first class luggage allowance.

ATL-AUS and v.v. may be easy - my Silver brother reported success on that earlier this week.

Every report of a successful upgrade by AS MVP flyers means all DL Silvers were upgraded.

It can vary wildly. Sort of like AUS-DFW on AA. You can have empty seats in F or you can have Plats sitting in back.

Depends where you are flying. I'm 3 for 3 on upgrades into/out of ATL since hitting FO, but all were to or from COS. (2 of them were ATL-COS, the other one was COS-ATL)

Programs: Now just a lowly DL PM/1MM. This industry needs some competition. It's just not enjoyable anymore.

The last couple of weeks out of ATL I have seen gate upgrades for sale and, gasp, two flights went out with empty seats in F. So yes, it is possible, but it does very wildly.

2012:
- Sunday JFK-ATL 767-300 (T) ^

2011:
- Friday ATL-LGA 757-200 (T) ^
- Monday BOS-ATL 757-200 (T) ^
- Tuesday ATL-GSO DC-9-50 (T) ^
- Monday PHX-ATL 757-200 (T) ^
- Saturday RDU-ATL 757-200 (T) ^
- Saturday ATL-MDW A-319 (T) ^

So clearly it's possible, just somewhat unlikely

When I was a FO:

ATL-BDL (T)
ATL-FLL (T)
ATL-MKE (T)

Don't even think about ATL-LAX.

Silver medallion upgrades in/out ATL: humanly possible?

I have been upgraded as a silver a few times....once from JFK-AMS
Then on both legs of msp-Phx
Was upgraded from msp-ord but there was only one seat and I was with a friend so i turned it down (we had exit row seats anyway)
Got upgraded on labor day from mia-msp but gave it to my ex so he could enjoy first class

I'm flying tomorrow from msp-ewr but no upgrade yet.....though once I land I'll officially be gold so hopefully that means a better chance on the return flight!!

So this thread is about ATL but every datapoint you've listed is about a hub other than ATL...

A coworker of mine got BusinessElite on ATL-LAX this past Saturday morning as a nonrev, which means all Silvers (and AS MVPs) would have been up front as well.

My last LAX-ATL (757 26 seat F) was on an award ticket and there were 3 upgrades after me so either FOs or NRSA got the last 3. I have heard of some reports of good FO % this year from friends and co-workers.

Leave it to a Mets fan...

In all seriousness, though, I am ATL-based and just hit FO, so this thread makes me hopeful. Especially since I do fly a Q/K fare from time to time.

Would I be right, though, in assuming that ATL-LAS (and back) flights might be made difficult due to even leisure flyers purchasing more F on that route? I'm basing this on purely anecdotal evidence of friends headed there for bachelor(ette) parties and those being the only F tickets they will ever buy in their lives.
