To Vienna on lie-flat?

I plan to travel paid J from the Eastern US to Vienna in early September. I'll have to make 2 stops, first to ATL or JFK (or maybe BOS or DTW), then AMS or CDG. Would prefer to avoid CDG, but first priority is sleep.

I want to ensure the overnight is on a lie-flat (flat-bed to be more specific). All of the DL routings I have found are either A330 or un-mod 763's. The only lie-flat I have found would be the AF A380 for JFK-CDG.

Are there other options I'm missing?

Thanks!

Well, lie flats to MUC and take the train :)

Or fly to LHR and do LHR-AMS/CDG-VIE.

Lie Flat to LHR via Delta & VIE for $19 via British Airways. And do avoid CDG! The transfer time at CDG would exceed the flight time to VIE.

Do you mean lie-flat (i.e., angled flat surface when fully reclined) or true flat beds? The former is available on DL's A330s as well as AF A380s in Affaires.

True flat beds TATL generally require DL 767-400s, plus the very few reconfigured 767-300s (no guarantee at all that you won't get the horrid nonreconfigured 767-300 with the lounger BE seats) and possibly the 777 or a redone 747 (both rare TATL as opposed to TPAC). There's another thread on this, but to get true flat beds on AF requires La Premiere (IFC), which cannot be gotten with DL miles as an upgrade or award ticket, so figure a $10-20,000 ticket RT.

AZ from JFK/EWR/others? to FCO/MXP in their new Magnifica biz class will also get you a lie flat if on their new A330.

"Lie Flat to LHR via Delta & VIE for $19 via British Airways..."

And where does one get a $19 fare to Vienna? Did I misinterpret what you said?

Thanks. I meant to write "to avoid CDG" - definitely would rather transfer at AMS than CDG! The LHR route may be best, but I'd have to transfer between DL and AUstrian or British Airways and not sure if that would create problems.

The only DL/AF/KL itinerary all the way to VIE that would get you flat beds in Business over the water is the DL JFK-CDG flight, which unfortunately switches back to the unrefurbished 763ER after the Sept 4 flight...I assume you are going later in the month?

Otherwise, you will have to interline with another non-ST airline. If you do that, then you can take DL flat beds through LHR (all US gateways), FRA (all US gateways), MUC (ATL) or BRU (JFK). From LHR, connect via BA or OS; FRA via LH or OS, MUC via LH or OS, BRU via SN or OS...

We don't know where the OP is starting, call it XXX. Is XXX-JFK/ATL/MSP/DTW/BOS-LHR-AMS-VIE a legal routing? It has flat beds across the Atlantic and avoids CDG in favor of AMS, although it does have four segments.
