DL 767 vs. DL A330 vs. AF 777-200
I am flying business class Boston to Delhi in January. My options are going through Amsterdam or Paris and depending on whether I fly Delta or Air France on the transatlantic segment I will be in Delta's 767 (non flat bed) or A330 BE cabin or AF's 777-200 Affaires cabin.
Any opinions on which one I should aim for would be most appreciated. I have previously flown Delta's 767 and 767-400 (flat bed) and enjoyed both. I did not like the old 747 affaires cabin on AF but have never experienced the new Affaires in 777.
Thank you all for you help.

On the AF 777 the seating configuration is 2-3-2 (yes in Business class), so there is the potential for a "middle seat". The seats do not lie completely flat but at about a 175 angle. The food is fairly good, and the service is also good (at least TATL). I do not know if they use try business class on to India or if it the three seats across economy cabin with the middle seat closed.

I recently flew AF MIA-CDG-BOM on the 777 (on the CDG-BOM segment) and DL BOM-AMS-ATL on the A330.
I'd take the A330 over the 767 any day. Over Delta, I'd rather fly AF's 777. I really enjoy AF's catering. On the 777, AF has a little mini-bar area for Affaires passengers if you'd like to treat.yo.self to whatever beverages you like as with either airline the lights will be turned down soon after the meal service.
My rule of thumb has always been when there is a choice, always go with the foreign carrier as service tends to be superior.

Given the airlines and equipment, my preference would be:
AF777 > DL330 >> DL763
The seats on AF's 777 and DL's 330 are fairly similar in that they are both angled lie flats. Personal space, amenities, etc are fairly similar. But somehow AF's product seems classier, but that could just be the European flavor. I've had more consistently good service on AF too. Given that your flight is so far out, the middle seats on AF shouldn't be an issue.
One note though, I do prefer flying through AMS a bit more. CDG seems more congested and there are some really long between some terminals. But I'd still go with AF.

Personally, I'd chose the A330 on DL. I find the new AF J seats to be uncomfortable (the latest generation, the ones with the little ottoman thing that serves as a foot rest). Now, I'm ~6'4" and so that probably plays a part it in. Overall, I think AF usually does a better job but I've found their service to be hit or miss at times. That's not to say that DL's isn't, I've just found I like DL's service and seats a little bit better and so I would chose the 330 over the AF 777. Now, if this was a choice between a DL 767 in the old config or an AF 777, that would be a whole different ball of wax.

Hmmm... A bit of a tough call. I prefer the AF seats over both the A330 and the 767, but the 2-3-2 layout is kind of a bummer. The AF seat is closer to horizontal, is more private, and is just a better seat, IMO. The A330 is preferable to the 767, but if you aren't particularly large, I don't find the 767 nearly as bad as some would have you believe. Particularly for a day flight, I wouldn't hesitate to fly the 767.
I prefer the service and food on DL to that on AF.
If schedules don't sway it one way or the other, I guess I'd go for AF, as I sleep better in that seat. But it is pretty close.

Thank you all for your responses. From these it definitely seems like AF 777 is the way to go. AF uses the same aircraft onwards to India.
The issue with flying through AMS on A330 is that the AMS-DEL leg would on old KLM 747 which I feel is not so nice. That would leave me with DL 767 vs. AF 777.
To put things in perspective I'm 5'9" and not big. Also, there are plenty of seats so the middle seat should not be a problem.

O/T, I'm off to FRA later today on the 764, which is the first time I've flown that bird in BE. Looking forward to it.

Not sure how you would get a DL 767 between BOS and DEL....If you go via AMS, you will have a DL A333 BOS-AMS, and then a KL 747 AMS-DEL; if you go BOS-CDG-DEL, you will have an AF 772 BOS-CDG, and then an AF 77W (777-300ER) on CDG-DEL...

AF 777 J Seat Question
Flying AF 12 on the return portion of a DL BE Award and am getting weird seat map options. On DL.com, it shows a 777-200 with 8F seats (rows 1 & 2) and 70J seats (rows 3 - 12) where rows 3 - 12 show as one large cabin space.
On seatguru.com and AF's seat maps, the only version that comes close to matching this is a 777-300 and here, rows 3 & 4 seem to be in small forward cabin right behind F with galleys and lavs between these seats and the rest of J. Seat Expert's 777-300 layout matches DLs 777-200 AF seatmap.
So...
Which seatmap is AF12 (I suspect a 777-300)?
Which are the best J seats for two people traveling together (3AB or 3KL)?
Thanks in advance.

Hi Folks,
I would like to reopen this conversation. I had asked for reviews on DL 767-300 vs. AF 777-200 for transatlantic travel and at the time it seemed that AF 777 was definitely superior than the DL763 2-2-2 configuration in BusinessElite. I just noticed that the route I am going to fly CVG-CDG, just got the new flat bed 763s and is showing a 1-2-1 configuration on the seat map. Anybody recently traveled the new 763 and can compare it to AF's 777?
Thanks a lot!!

Wirelessly posted (iPhone 3G: Mozilla/5.0 (iPhone; CPU iPhone OS 6_0 like Mac OS X) AppleWebKit/536.26 (KHTML, like Gecko) Version/6.0 Mobile/10A403 Safari/8536.25)
Same seat as the DL764. I'd take that over anything AF currently offers. 1 2 1 is the perfect layout for a J cabin.
