UG Priority

On a mileage ticket as a DM, what is the priority for UG's? Is it behind all rev pax?

mtkeller May 31, 2012 9:12 am

No, ahead of all non-DMs booked in anything other than Y (or waitlisted for SWU).

No it is considered the lowest fare class for a DM but above other levels.

True but there are so few who would pay full Y it is not a big issue....but you are, as usual, absolutely correct.

We suspect that award tickets are above pay-with-miles tickes within the same elite level.

Yes, DL lists pay-with-miles last on its upgrade chart.

I disagree with this. I think this is why DMs sometime miss is because of others that are in full Y class. Not that they buy it by choice, just that they buy last second or something like that and it's the only thing available.

More likely a FCM customer. If you look at the % of tickets airlines sell at Y is tiny (GOVT "Y" fares are more common but also more airport specific). I would be very surprised if on any given flight there were more than 4 or 5 Y tickets sold particularly now that F is far, FAR cheaper than full Y at the last minute with FCM.

I suspect that a lot of full Y sales are the result of corporate travel policies that forbid FC tickets even when FC is cheaper plus a few companies that allow any coach ticket to be purchased.

The idiocy of corporate travel policies not withstanding.

True but I go by my own experience and I was always very near the top of the list (1 or 2) and on the lowest fare possible which is very anecdotal but suggests Y are not that prevalent. Even on revenue tickets other DMs were not that much competition for me what was getting me was last minute P sales.
