DL 9927

Noticed today Delta had a flight 9927, LAX-NRT. Any idea what this extra flight was for?

Flight 283 LAXNRT was canceled on May26 due to mech issues. So flt 9927 was a extra session for those passengers.

Just curious, how did you guys notice this? And how did you know what this flight was meant for?

This sort of flight number is used for such additional sections.

The other obvious alternative when one notices a one time only flight is that it's a charter for a sports team.

Some friends on 9927 (bumped from mx issues 284 the previous day) sent me pictures of the overhead projectors. No personal TVs. Probably a charter aircraft I'm thinking?

No, it was N667US - one of DL's yet-to-be-modified 747s.
