Poor dude is probably exhausted though he does look just like a drunken oaf. I hope he doesn't see this! The business of showing off your belly being ok is quite funny though. I'm glad it's not customary in the US.

He is probably aware of the rule that if you pass out with your shoes on you are subject to writing on your face by your buddies because you have "passed out". Shoes off means you specifically are napping or sleeping.
