No no you need to be more subtle.

What you do is take a new full tiny water bottle. Then put it in the middle of the seat pocket. Lastly place your knee on bottle and press firmly and create consistent pressure until pain in back results in desired seat adjustment.

Or so I have been told...

Hilarious!!!! Another weapon to add to my armamentarium. I do love 2B and 2C so this little trick may come in handy some day.

Good luck with that. Rude, self-centered pricks are immune from caring anything about anyone but themselves.

Unless you stand and do it this way...

well it's certainly possible that this guy is a big jerk, but it's more likely that he's just unaware, and even the slightest reminder will embarrass him into behaving.

It seems to me that the type of person who just assumes the guy is a jerk and immediately goes into underhanded scheming mode is as much a part of the problem as the jerks themselves.

Not sure about that...most people don't like reminders of their slovenly and boorish behavior.

If you are considerate of others they will be considerate of you. If you are oblivious of others and dont care about others expect the same in return.

yeah, this sounds great, escalate the situation, then, according to your very own logic, the guy you antagonize is well within his rights to escalate further. Sounds like a great idea, clearly brilliant.

I did a small correction at your statement to make it more adherent to real life.

I agree, that's why I suggest starting with consideration. If you lead off with aggression, then shouldn't you expect that to come back at you?

I think we have all flown enough to know that the 95 percent of the time the guy in the picture we are discussing, no statistics to back it up but my own data points from flying millions of miles over 30 yrs of travel, will adhere to me saying to move his seat forward. My real life strategy would be ask the FA to have him move the seat forward. After he would he would tell the FA no I paid for this seat etc etc, I would have a foot in his back or the pull out Renee water special that he discussed upthread and karma would come Concorde supersonic at him as it should.
