Question For Silvers Re: Sky Priority

We all know that ATL is for GM and up with regards to check in, security lines, etc. Though I have noticed at various airport such as LAS, MIA, FLL, & others that Amex (Silver) medallions can actually take advantage of these various perks. What other airports have other SM seen this at?

MSPeconomist May 11, 2012 9:39 pm

I've mostly noticed it at small outstations, although some hubs have special areas/lines for Silvers--for example, at MSP, FO has a special check in line and then (this isn't publicized) they can go to the opposite end of the airport and use the all-airline elite security line (but not the DL SP security line unless they are eligible for PreCheck, although I don't know how they would prove this to the DL staff member serving as SP line dragon, who does check eligibility for the SP area).

Thanks, has anyone noticed it specifically at MCO? I feel like they do let silvers do everything GM and higher can there, but I cant remember for sure.

Just tell them you have the AMEX card and deserve special check in privileges ;).

MDW and PIT allow SM to use the Priority Security lane. I'm guessing most other "non-DL hub" airports do the same.

Saw a special Silver/SkyTeam Elite line in the new international terminal last week...

Somebody in the AS forum posted this sign from SFO which shows Silver Medallions are permitted there (although this is a check-in lane, not a security lane) -- SFO Sky Priority Sign

This would be correct!

The placard at haneda reads that FO are allowed to check in through the sky priority line. LAX also. Though I noticed that from lax to hnd, I had yellow sky priority tags on the luggage, whil from hnd to lax, they did not.

I thought LAX had a separate check in line for FO, although it might be in the SkyPriority area.

As an FO, I know my sister uses the SP check in at LHR. As a DM, I've never looked for specific signage.

:)

PHX allows Silvers to use Sky Priority checkin and security lines.

If there is not a dedicated Silver checkin line, then silvers can use the SP checkin lane.

Security is more of a YMMV thing, as it (unlike "priority checkin") is not a stated benefit for FOs,

I've been flying AA a fair bit lately (due to DL fare gouging from GPT ever since AirTran left us) to/from MSP, and I've never had to prove anything to the DL staff member serving as the SP/TSA-Pre line dragon...I just tell him/her verbally that I have TSA-Pre and I go right through. I'm also told by the TSOs there that when they scan the BP, the TSA-Pre info is embedded in the bar code - if the scanner doesn't reply back that a flyer is qualified, he/she gets bounced to the regular TSA line.

Silvers are gone. . .

I'm thinking that DL will exit Silvers soon. It will be only GM, PM, and DMs.
