Thanks for posting this. I sent the link on to some very good friends whose son is wrapping up his year in Iraq (last convoy to escort was supposed to be today).

The CO presidents club in ATL had a lot of active duty personnel in uniform last summer. They also have free WiFi, I offered to let a couple of soldiers use my laptop to check e-mail, they thanked me but said they didn't need to check it.

Does this policy of CRC access for active military apply only during holidays, or is it a year round policy? Also, does anyone know for sure what the policy is on having to be in uniform or not? Thanks.

Question Delta's military lounge?

Hello everyone. Longtime lurker, first time posting.

I just read a thread about donating drink certs to soldiers and that jogged my memory: last time I flew out of ATL, there were signs up about a Delta "military lounge".

Does anyone have more information? Would they take donations? I'd love to find a way to personally thank some troops this holiday.

Sounds like an odd deal for Delta to actually run a Armed Forces lounge. Usually the USO runs them.

They do run it, only during Christmas. And they have for years-- I think I remember a few years ago they said "our 25th year".

Also, ORF is my home airport and I would say its about 90% at least that the captain asks the pax to applaud for our military men and women at either take off or landing.

Delta is a great airline to our military, which I appreciate.

The Military Lounge is in B Concourse. I think it is around B33. Nice for DL to have a lounge for members of the military that are transiting.

This is from an announcement a few weeks ago. Merry Christmas

Delta, Delta Technology and Delta Global Services employees and retirees are invited to participate and volunteer for Delta’s annual Holiday Military Lounge at the Atlanta Worldport. Employees and retirees may contribute baked goods, fruits, vegetables or any other type of snack for the 38th annual Atlanta Worldport Holiday Military Lounge. Family and friends are also welcome to participate.

The lounge, located on B concourse across from gate B-33, will be open daily from 6:00a.m. until 10:00p.m. starting December 10, 2007 through January 4, 2008. A ribbon cutting ceremony will be held at 10:00a.m. on Wednesday December 12, 2007 in the Military Lounge.

been in there a few times, its basically just a room with a tv and a bunch of chairs. Pretty nice gesture from Delta. Really good for families.

Also, Amazingly, Delta lets military members in uniform into the Crown Rooms. I was quite impressed when I learned this last year. I am uncertain whether it is only for military flying overseas or everyone in uniform. Also, not sure if it applies to those not in uniform.

didn't even have to be in uniform for it. Before I got my CRC membership they would let me in when I was traveling on TDY or Leave

That's good. I was in the CRC concourse C ATL last week, and I saw a young enlisted man. I'm sure he was not a member, so they are letting them in for free.

Is this lounge only available during the December holidays? My friend's husband is on his R&R from Afghanistan and will be connecting in Atlanta. He has a 12+ hour layover before continuing home to SYR.

I'd either find someone to guest him or just tell him to go to the USO. There's some recliners in there if he wants to rack out. Actually, heck, with 12+ hours why not just ditch his gear at the USO and head into town?

Military Lounge Open Again in ATL

This was posted previously during the 2008 holidays but I thought it worth mentioning once again.

While in ATL today I noticed that the Military Lounge is once again open across from B33. Apparantly it is only open during the holiday season. As a PM who has given my upgrade to military in uniform, I applaud this gesture.
